Urban Observatory

From visits of the site it became apparent that the urban environment had been unintentionally heightened through glances that were available to you from particular angles. Peck Lane acted as a type of transition through time. With one end opposite the Classical Council House and the other opposite the Gothic St. Peters Church. Therefore, the project was to engage with this juxtaposition and heighten one’s awareness.

The Urban observatory would function as a library that holds information on the area as well as educate the public on the history and growth of Nottingham. However, it would retain a enigmatic quality similar to that of our own awareness of a places in history and it’s stories. Hence, the building would function as a type of rediscovery.
